Brake Linings

There are many different types of Brake Linings. The lining material is designed to create friction between the lining material on the pad or shoe and the brake disk or drum while minimizing damage to the drum or disk. Given this requirement, there must be a high coefficient of friction between the disk/drum and the lining material, but the lining material should wear before the more expensive disk/drum. The lining material must also dissipate heat or be extremely heat resistant so that it doesn't fail under use.
